Bachelor's groomers operate heavy equipment at night in variable weather and snow conditions to create a safe and consistent riding surface. Groomers work and communicate with other departments for overall maintenance of the mountain, including building clearance, access to lifts, and consistency of runs. An understanding of snow composition and the ability to discuss information are crucial. Prior snowcat or heavy equipment experience required. Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities Use the blade and tiller, cut bumps, flatten, and level runs to compact snow for consistent riding. surface. Cut and fill turn around marks, ruts, auger holes, and surface irregularities. Open up all runs within the shift area. Check any run for completion, safety, and quality (able to fix any issue). Maintain all roads and get-back trails. Establish and maintain lift loading and unloading areas. Work on dozing projects for padding and/or grading. Clean snow from the machine and keep the interior of the machine clean. Complete digital logs and communicate with mechanics. Check tracks and all components of the machine. Monitor service hours and notify when service is needed. Build and install hoses and do light mechanical work on equipment. Able to attach and remove implements from snow cat (blades, tiller, zauggs, etc.) Understand shop procedures. Inform leads and supervisors of changes or problems. Report equipment issues clearly and correctly. Monitor weather conditions to make safety calls for Patrol (i.e., avalanche potential) and Lift Maintenance (i.e., chair issues) Ability to move around the mountain with minimal direction. Ability to learn additional areas. Follow all safety procedures. Secondary Function Assist mechanics in equipment repairs. Cut trees/limbs endangering runs. Job Scope Operation of equipment at night to create runs for the public and to keep access to roads, lifts, lodges, and mechanical buildings for other departments to accomplish their jobs. Move snow as required into and away from areas safely and proficiently, without causing safety issues and or damage to yourself, co-workers, guests, or the equipment being operated or worked around. Interpersonal Contacts Daily contact with the Mt. operations departments. Lift Maintenance, Lift Op's, Lift Access, Patrol, Snow Removal, Terrain Parks, Building Maintenance, Electrical and Vehicle Maintenance, Lodge Services. Specific Job Skills License/Certifications:
