Job Description

Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Automotive Technician to join our team as an Automotive Technology Teacher. This is a unique opportunity to bring your industry experience into the classroom and train the next generation of automotive professionals.

Our program is well-established, highly engaging, and focuses on real-world, hands-on learning. Students are motivated and the shop environment mirrors industry expectations.
Duties:
Teach introductory and advanced Automotive Technology, with a focus on skills that are relevant in todays workplace. The Auto Tech program focuses on teaching students technical skills so that they can succeed in a shop setting. Students also learn employability skills, problem-solving, critical thinking, leadership, and math. Create and deliver curriculum that is aligned with proficiencies in the Vermont CTE proficiency documents. Utilizes curricular resources such as course map, online textbook, and other resources. Provide hands-on instruction in a lab/shop environment focused on real-world applications Foster positive relationships with students and maintain a safe, well-managed classroom/shop Research current industry trends and implements them into curriculum. Facilitates a Program Advisory Board of industry experts who give advice about and direction for the program. Maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting. Communicate students progress to guardians. Participate fully in staff meetings and professional development. Collaborate with other staff members and other programs in the Center. Collaborate and coordinate with others to facilitate student field trips and student work-based learning experiences Order and manage equipment, inventory, and supplies.
Curriculum:
Students in the program have the opportunity to earn ASE Entry-Level certifications, including:
Maintenance and Light Repair Brakes Electrical/Electronic Systems Engine Performance Engine Repair Heating and Air Conditioning Manual Drive Train and Axles Suspension and Steering Automatic Transmission/Transaxle Qualifications:
Applicants must meet eligibility for the VT CTE apprenticeship licensure: High school diploma (or equivalent) and 6 years of experience in the automotive field, orAssociates degree in any field and 4 years of automotive industry experience, orBachelors degree in any field and a minimum of 4 years of experience as an automotive technicianASE Certifications - Holds ASE certifications or willingness to obtain these certifications within two years.
