Our Fleet & Facilities Maintenance Department is an integral part in the everyday operations of Intercity Transit. They ensure that our vehicles are working efficiently as riders are safely transported to where they need to go. Knowledge of the parts, tools and equipment used in servicing diesel and automotive equipment. Then this position is for you! Intercity Transit is currently seeking a full-time Service Worker. This position will demonstrate commitment to shop and interdepartmental teamwork, strive to share knowledge, be a leader through actions and examples, and exhibit dedication to mission, vision, and values of the agency. This position is classified as safety-sensitive under Intercity Transit's Drug and Alcohol Policy and is included in the random drug and alcohol testing program. It is an exciting time to join IT! Intercity Transit provides fixed route transit, ADA paratransit and vanpool services in Washington state's capitol city of Olympia in addition to the neighboring communities of Lacey, Tumwater, and Yelm. As a Service Worker , you will: Fill vehicle fuel tanks; check level of various fluids and refill as needed. Sweep inside buses; wash exterior of vehicles; operate bus washer. Assist Operations with bus exchanges Perform minor repairs such as replacing light bulbs and lenses, cycle wheelchair lifts, replace mirrors, and adjust belts. Clean and maintain work areas; scrub fuel bays; drain air tanks. Handle biohazards within the established organizational and safety guidelines. Are you the one we are looking for? High school graduate or GED. One (1) year experience performing basic servicing and maintenance functions on vehicles or related equipment desirable; combination of education and experience may be considered. Skill in operating tools and equipment used in servicing diesel and automotive equipment. Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions followed in equipment repair shops. Must be able to lift in excess of 50 lbs. Must possess (or be able to obtain within 6 months of employment) and maintain a valid Class "B" Commercial Driver's License with passenger and air brake endorsements; must maintain an acceptable driving record during employment. Must be flexible to work any combination of days, swings, weekends, and holidays. What is in it for you? Be a part of an essential service to the community. If your current salary exceeds the advertised pay range for this position, acceptance of this position may not be considered a promotion for wage adjustment purposes. 23 to 36 vacation days per year, depending upon the eligibility date and length of service. Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and eligible dependents. PERS Retirement Plans (through Washington State Public Employee's Retirement System) along with voluntary deferred compensation plans (401k and 457) with employer match up to 8.5%. 12 days of sick leave per year. $225 Shoe Allowance Intercity Transit will reimburse employees up to $200 per year for the cost of prescription safety glasses upon presentation of a receipt.
