Job Description

Job Description Bridge Inspection Technician is to assist a Team Lead, either a Certified Bridge Inspector (CBI) or Professional Engineer (PE), in performing in-depth structural inspections of bridge and ancillary structures throughout the state of Florida. The position will assist the Team Leader in the field by gathering and documenting all necessary information and data to compile a comprehensive bridge safety and maintenance inspection report. The technician assists with the monthly scheduling of work for the team's inspections and may assist in the scheduling and communication with sub consultants and vendors performing work. The position requires the use of inspection equipment (i.e., inspection vehicle, bucket truck, inspection boat, and underbridge vehicles) which will require general maintenance that will be the technician's responsibility to schedule and ensure it is ready for future inspection use. Related work functions are performed as necessary in conjunction with the following related duties and responsibilities: Assist Certified Bridge Inspector or Professional Engineer in related work. Prepares technical reports and keeps technical records under close supervision. Must be capable of comprehending computer programs related to generating a bridge inspection report within a reasonable amount of time from hire date. Responsible for keeping inspection vehicle well stocked with all needed supplies to accomplish a bridge inspection schedule. Responsible for keeping inspection vehicle clean and up to date with all maintenance. Position requires the ability to lift approximately 50 lbs. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Position requires operation of motor vehicle. Position requires overnight travel. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. Certified Commercial Diver is a plus. Opportunities for growth in the industry This position is the first step in the process to becoming a Certified Bridge Inspector (CBI) / Team Leader. If proven qualified, after 5 years of bridge inspection experience you are eligible to become a CBI for the state of Florida. Our department's goal is to train our personnel throughout their 5 years as a technician to be able to obtain their CBI certification once eligible.
