Job Summary Join our team as a Virginia State Safety and Emissions Inspector, where you will play a vital role in ensuring vehicles meet safety and environmental standards. Responsibilities Conduct thorough safety inspections on a wide range of vehicles to verify compliance with state standards. Perform emissions testing to ensure vehicles meet environmental regulations. Utilize hand tools, power tools, and automotive repair equipment to diagnose issues and perform minor repairs when necessary. Document inspection results accurately and prepare detailed reports for each vehicle inspected. Assist vehicle owners by explaining inspection findings and guiding them through necessary repairs or maintenance steps. Maintain inspection stations and ensure all tools and equipment are in proper working order. Follow all safety protocols and stay updated on current state regulations related to vehicle safety and emissions. Qualifications Mechanical knowledge of vehicle systems, auto body repair, and automotive service procedures. Experience using hand tools, power tools, and automotive repair equipment. Prior mechanic or auto restoration experience is highly desirable. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling vehicle parts or equipment. Strong attention to detail with excellent communication skills for explaining technical information clearly. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to operate inspection equipment confidently. Knowledge of vehicle maintenance, auto repair techniques, and emissions standards is a plus.
