Overview Join our dynamic transportation team as a Train Operator and become a vital part of delivering safe, reliable, and efficient rail services. In this energetic role, you will be responsible for operating trains with precision and care, ensuring passengers and freight reach their destinations smoothly. Your expertise will help maintain the highest safety standards while providing excellent service to our customers. Duties Safely operate trains along designated routes, adhering to all safety protocols and operational procedures. Conduct thorough pre-trip inspections, checking air brake systems and mechanical components to ensure optimal train performance. Monitor train systems continuously during operation, responding promptly to any mechanical issues or safety alerts. Communicate effectively with dispatchers, station personnel, and other team members to coordinate movements and resolve operational concerns. Maintain accurate logs of train activities, including inspection reports, safety checks, and route documentation. Respond swiftly and appropriately in emergency situations, coordinating with first responders if necessary. Perform routine maintenance checks on train equipment and report any mechanical deficiencies for prompt repair. Qualifications Proven experience operating trains or similar heavy machinery is preferred but not required; training will be provided for qualified candidates. Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot basic issues related to air brake systems and train mechanics. Valid certification or licensing related to rail operation or commercial vehicle operation is highly desirable. Knowledge of air brake systems and their maintenance is essential for safe operation. Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with team members and emergency responders. Ability to stay alert during long shifts, maintaining focus on safety and operational accuracy.
