Job Description

The Neil Jones Food Company is an industry leader, processing superior quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation's discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years.
NJFC operates three production facilities:
Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA. We are looking for a seasonal Flow Control Operator I to control the flow, volume and distribution of incoming tomatoes in a consistent manner to the Pouch and Dice lines as required to meet production demands. This role will be responsible for managing, sorting out, and rejecting product and communicating with control room to effectively manage tank levels and variety of fruit at our TomaTek plant in Firebaugh, CA. Neil Jones Food Company Key Responsibilities:
Ensures that all equipment to be used is fully functional and manages fruit flow from the steam peelers through the sorting tables and distribute fruit to meet production demands. Controls fruit distribution through the operation of manually operated pneumatic and electric control switches that may control conveyor belts, pumps, choppers, dicers, divert gates and other equipment. Continually observes equipment for proper operation and immediately notifies the Dice Line Supervisor or Manager of any problems that may affect the flow of tomatoes. Follows directions from the Sterilizer Operator and/or the Pouch Batch Leads as to the flow of product needed from each peel line. Maintains communications with the Upper Flow Control Operator as to the correct volume of fruit needed to maintain a consistent uninterrupted flow of tomatoes to the process lines.
Requirements :
1 - 2 years related experience and/or training in Flow Control Area or similar equipment; requires steam peeler training. Requires the ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers. Requires the ability to read, write, and speak English to maintain Daily Production Logbook. Requires a good attendance record. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, work extended hours, weekends, and any shift assigned during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October.
