This is a hands-on operations role focused on dispatching crews, managing field staff, and ensuring safe, compliant traffic control setups. You'll be responsible for the day-to-day execution of dispatching and crew oversight. This is a hands-on role focused on getting crews to the right jobs with the right equipment and keeping eyes on field performance. Field time is approximately 25%; the balance is spent at the yard handling dispatch and coordination. A company vehicle will be provided . Classification (Exempt/Non-Exempt):
Exempt Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
Dispatch crews, trucks, and equipment to active job sites daily based on the schedule provided Adjust crew and equipment assignments as job conditions, callouts, and same-day changes require Communicate job assignments, scope, and site-specific requirements to foremen and crew leads Track crew locations, job start/stop times, and equipment movement throughout the day Visit active job sites to check on crew performance, TCP setup, and compliance with plans Communicate with customers and agency inspectors on job-specific questions as they come up Collect and review daily crew timecards and field reports for accuracy before submission Flag staffing gaps, equipment shortages, and field issues to the appropriate person for resolution Follow company safety standards and report incidents per company protocol Out of town work and overnight stays may be required. Required Qualifications:
5+ years experience in traffic control operations Strong knowledge of traffic control plans, lane closures, and flagging ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) certification Working knowledge of California MUTCD, Caltrans standards, and the WATCH manual Strong dispatching and coordination skills under shifting daily conditions Willing to work early mornings, nights, and weekends as needed. Flagger Certification is a plus Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to speak, read, and write in English Professional attitude, reliability, and ability to work with diverse crews Required to have valid DL Required to pass pre-employment drug test/background check Candidates must pass a post-offer physical examination to ensure they can perform the essential physical functions of the job Preferred Qualifications ATSSA Traffic Control Designer (TCD) certification Bilingual English/Spanish Prior dispatch experience in traffic control or a related construction trade Physical Demands - A qualified individual must be able to perform these essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation: Sitting and/or standing/walking for long periods on uneven ground Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally Twisting, reaching overhead, pulling, pushing Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, heavy equipment, noise, dust, and fumes Required use of PPE on job sites (hard hat, safety vest, hearing protection, etc.) Prolonged periods of computer and screen use Movement between offices, job sites, and equipment yards as needed. Specific vision abilities required include close vision (for reading plans/computer screens), distance vision, and depth perception. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities Work Environment Combination of office and active construction site work. The employee could be exposed to weather conditions such as heat, cold, and rain, and will work near heavy machinery and moving vehicles The noise level on site can be loud, and the environment may involve dust and fumes. Appropriate PPE (hard hat, safety vest, hearing protection, etc.) is required at all times. Work may occasionally be at heights The employee is required to follow all safety policies and procedures and to actively participate in safety trainings and meetings.
