Operational Subject Matter Expert Provide subject matter expertise to the FAA Joint Air Traffic Operations Command (JATOC) related to air traffic control functions, operations, and systems in support of FAA aviation initiatives including concept exploration and development; NationalAirspace System (NAS) modernization; and integration of new capabilities and procedures into the operational environment. Work Location On-site at the FAA's Air Traffic Control System Command Center in Warrenton, Virginia Responsibilities Duties include, but are not limited to: Responsible for providing on-site/virtual support to the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Air Traffic Organization (ATO) Watch Officer (AWO) Design and facilitate readiness exercises for JATOC personnel and conduct On-the-Job Training (OJT) for new AWO staff Maintain the

Incident Monitor Dashboard, including Daily Operational Items and events Perform audits of AWO messages to Executive Leadership and publish weekly/monthly results Assist, coach, and provide tools to FAA personnel working the AWO position Provide operational and program support in the development and implementation of Air Traffic Management (ATM) modernization including time-based separation and performance-based navigation (PBN) Provide operational support for the development and validation of operational concepts Analyze existing and proposed concepts to identify operational risks and mitigations Support development, implementation, and field testing of research concepts, NAS automation systems, and air traffic procedures Create, develop, review, and evaluate air traffic procedures Provide operational support for the development of ATM automation system adaptation Support risk management initiatives in collaboration with program management and engineering Develop documentation, presentations, and reports Qualifications Qualified applicants must possess the following skills and qualifications: US Citizenship required Minimum of 15 years of air traffic control/management experience Experience as a staff specialist, supervisor, or air traffic facility manager Experience at FAA Headquarters preferred Experience with the development, implementation, or operation of air traffic modernization initiatives preferred Experience with Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UASs) preferred Multi-domain operational experience preferred (e.g., Air Traffic Control Tower, TRACON, Enroute, Oceanic, Traffic Flow Management) Ability to work shifts (e.g., day, swing, evening) as the team operates 24x7x365, including holidays Education Holds or previously held ATC Certified Professional Controller (CPC) Travel Limited travel may be required
