Job Description

At Skyway Concession Company LLC ("SCC"), we are guided by our core values of Safety, Ownership, Collaboration, Integrity & Stewardship, and Innovation . We seek team members who demonstrate these values in their daily work. The Control Room Operator monitors and operates the Chicago Skyway's control room systems, including surveillance, tolling, and radio communications. This role serves as the central communication hub for roadway operations, customer support, and emergency response, ensuring compliance with SCC policies, procedures, and FCC regulations.
Work Schedule Part-time:
up to 30/hours per week Key Responsibilities Monitor electronic toll collection and credit card toll lanes; assist customers as needed. Log and track system or lane issues; coordinate with IT and maintenance for resolution. Monitor tolling and security systems, document system failures, and maintain control room logs. Serve as the main contact for the Chicago Police Department units assigned to the Skyway. Communicate and coordinate with emergency services, roadway maintenance, and other departments. Dispatch maintenance personnel for repairs and track progress. Report roadway conditions, including accidents, weather hazards, and lane closures. Maintain accurate records of radio transmissions, incidents, and emergency responses. Act as the Skyway's primary alert and information point during severe weather or emergency situations. Provide professional and timely communication with the public, vendors, and city/state agencies. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Ability to multitask effectively across phone, radio, and computer systems Strong communication and problem-solving skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard office technology Ability to stay calm and make sound decisions under pressure Dependability, attention to detail, and commitment to safety Experience in transportation, public safety, or control room operations Familiarity with tolling systems or dispatch operations Work Environment & Physical Demands Primarily office-based within the control room environment Regularly requires sitting, standing, communicating, and using computers and radios Occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs) and brief outdoor exposure may be required Reasonable accommodations will be made for individuals with disabilities Safety & Compliance All SCC employees are expected to follow established safety procedures, promptly report hazards, and uphold SCC's commitment to a safe and environmentally responsible workplace.
