Duties Help The primary purpose of this position is: to provide tower, radar, and non-radar air traffic control (ATC) services to military and civilian aircraft opering under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR), Special Visual Flight Rules (SVFR), or Visual Flight Rules (VFR). Provides terminal ATC services to aircraft opering from primary and/or secondary airports within deleged airspace. Manages and directs controller actions and functions in Tower and Radar facilities as the primary wch supervisor and/or senior controller. Participion in direct deposit is mandory. Roting shift including midnight shifts and weekends. Must be facility-red in all assigned facilities, and maintain proficiency. Applicants must possess a valid Air Traffic Control Specialist Certifice and/or Control Tower (CTO) Certifice. Must meet and maintain on a continuing basis, the physical and mental qualificion standards established by the USAF or ANG for Air Traffic Control duty. Irregular and overtime (compensory) hours may be required to support operional requirements or contingencies. GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Must have the experience to (1) control of air traffic to insure the safe, orderly and expeditious movement along air routes and airports when a knowledge of aircraft separion standards and control techniques, and the ability to apply them properly, often under conditions of gre stress, are required; (2) providing preflight and in-flight assistance to aircraft requiring a knowledge of the informion pilots need to conduct safe flights and the ability to present th informion clearly and concisely; and/or (3) develop, coordine, and manage air traffic control programs.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
Musthave experience in a military or civilian air traffic facility th demonstred possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform GS-11 level work. Must have experience th has provided a comprehensive knowledge of approprie air traffic control laws, rules, and regulions. Must have experience issuing control instructions and advice to pilots in the vicinity of airports to assure proper separion of aircraft and to expedite their safe and efficient movement. Must have the ability to act decisively under stressful situions and to maintain alertness over sustained periods of pressure; skill to coordine plans and actions with pilots and other controllers; and judgment to select and take the safest and most effective course of action from among several available choices? Well Qualified Applicants will have experience in the ATC career field within the last 12 months (1 year). Qualified on Tower and/or RAPCON. Arrives quickly well-reasoned solutions to complex problems; Adjust quickly to different assignments, changing conditions, and workload fluctuions; Remains calm and controlled during and after long periods of tension and figue; and speaks rapidly, clearly, and distinctly.
MAXIMUM ENTRY AGE
: A maximum age for original entry into an identified ATC position is 36. An individual shall NOT be appointed or assigned to an ATC position if th appointment cannot be accomplished prior to the last day of the month in which the individual reaches his/her 36th birthday. Applicants over the age limits must meet re-entry or age waiver requirements accordance with DoD 1400.25-M Change 8, ded 20 Jun 05, Department of Defense Civilian Personnel Manual, Subchapter 331, Civilian Air Traffic Controllers. Any individual who has reached the mandory separion age (56) is NOT eligible for employment/reemployment as an ATC (5 U.S.C. 3323(a) (reference (b)). Civilian Air Traffic Controllers. Educion Applicants must possess or obtain a valid Air Traffic Control Specialist Certifice and/or Control Tower Operor Certifice, if approprie. These certifices require demonstring knowledge of basic meteorology, basic air navigion, standard air traffic control and communicions procedures, the types and uses of air navigion aids, and regulions governing air traffic.
