Job Description

SUMMARY OF POSITION
The dispatcher plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of a manufacturing facility. They are responsible for coordinating the movement of materials, equipment, and personnel within the facility. The dispatcher must have excellent organizational and communication skills to ensure that all tasks are completed in a timely manner and that production schedules are met.

RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL
The dispatcher plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of a manufacturing facility. They are responsible for coordinating the movement of materials, equipment, and personnel within the facility. The dispatcher must have excellent organizational and communication skills to ensure that all tasks are completed in a timely manner and that production schedules are met.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
1. Receive and review production tickets to determine the materials, equipment, and personnel needed for each job. 2. Assign tasks to personnel, taking into consideration their skills and availability. 3. Monitor the progress of jobs to ensure timely completion. 4. Maintain accurate records of all dispatch activities, including job assignments, and transportation schedules. 5. Collaborate with other departments, such as production, warehouse, and quality control, to resolve any issues or delays that may arise. 6. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 1. Proven experience in a similar role is highly desirable. Previous experience as a dispatcher in a manufacturing or logistics environment is preferred, as it provides familiarity with the unique challenges and processes involved in coordinating operations within a manufacturing facility. 2. Must have strong organizational skills to effectively coordinate the movement of materials, equipment, and personnel. They need to be able to prioritize tasks, manage multiple assignments simultaneously, and maintain accurate records of dispatch activities. 3. Excellent communication skills are essential for dispatchers. They must be able to effectively communicate with various departments within the facility. Clear and concise communication helps ensure that everyone involved understands their roles and responsibilities. 4. Proficiency in computer skills is important for dispatchers, as they often use dispatching software and inventory management systems to track materials, equipment, and personnel. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel and Word, is required. 5. Strong problem-solving skills to address any issues or delays that may arise during the production process. They need to be able to think quickly and find solutions to keep operations running smoothly. 6. Must be able to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Effective time management skills are crucial in ensuring that tasks are completed in a timely manner and production schedules are met. 7. Work closely with other departments, such as production, warehouse, and quality control. The ability to collaborate effectively and work as part of a team is important for a dispatcher to coordinate operations smoothly. 8. Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles is a plus. Lean manufacturing focuses on improving efficiency and minimizing waste, so having knowledge of these principles can contribute to streamlining dispatching processes in a manufacturing facility. 9. This is a "safety sensitive" position.

Employees must be able to bend a non-specific number of times per hour and twist their bodies from side to side. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; automated equipment, airborne particles; risk of electrical shock and moving fork trucks. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, hearing protection is required in designated areas where signage indicates it is mandatory.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
: High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Additional education or certifications in logistics or supply chain management preferred.
