We are looking for experienced aviation professionals to join the SAIC Controller Training Solutions (CTS) team, supporting Air Traffic Controller Training services for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), serving in the position of
Casual, Air Traffic Basics :
Instructor-I, onsite at the FAA Academy, in Oklahoma City, OK. Aviators, as well as former U.S. Civilian and/or U.S. Military Air Traffic Controllers are encouraged to apply. The CTS Academy ATC Basics Instructor-I is a hands-on position that requires the candidate to effectively and consistently deliver the highest quality classroom instruction to a wide variety of developmental air traffic control students. The successful candidate for this position must be able to demonstrate strong knowledge, skills and experience with current ATC requirements, rules and procedures, and must be able to obtain and maintain ATC Instructor-I certification at the FAA Academy. These instructors will primarily conduct and administer Course 50043, Air Traffic Basics (Terminal), Course 50143, Air Traffic Basics (En Route), and/or Course 50043001 Air Traffic Basics TRACON, which deal with aviation topics such as aerodynamics, aviation charts, and airport marking. They may also participate in the conduct or administration of Human Performance for ATC (HPATC) or other courses and/or in ISD projects, to include the development, revision, and maintenance of ATC Training Courses. The Federal Aviation Administration is responsible for ensuring that air traffic control specialists provide the flying public with a high level of safety and professionalism. A well-trained Air Traffic Control workforce plays an essential role in fulfilling this responsibility. To provide such air traffic services, the FAA trains new air traffic control specialists and provides recurrent training to current air traffic control specialists. To ensure these training needs are met, the FAA utilizes Contractor-provided instructional services at the FAA Academy and FAA ATC facilities throughout the U.S. and its Territories. The scope of the contractor-provided services includes all training and training program support to successfully train and prepare students to become fully certified Air Traffic Controllers. SAIC must provide training and training related support services as required for all types and levels of ATC facilities.
Qualifications Required Qualifications:
A. Be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance B. Have 3 years of experience as a certified flight instructor, OR C. Be an instrument-rated pilot plus have a minimum of 3 years of experience as an instructor in an equivalent position, OR D. Have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a facility certified Air Traffic Control Specialist (ATCS) in either a U.S. Civilian or U.S. Military Air Traffic Control (ATC) facility plus have a minimum of 3 years of experience as an instructor in an equivalent position
Desired Skills and Experience:
Direct experience as a certified ATC Instructor at the FAA Academy is preferred but not required Demonstrated ability to interface effectively with FAA personnel at all levels to ensure the delivery of training services meet the needs of the local facility, as well as the FAA's overall Air Traffic Control mission is highly desired Experience delivering excellent teaching and/or platform skills, classroom management techniques, and a student-focused drive for continuous improvement, is strongly preferred but not required
