Full Job Description Job Title:
MCT Electrical Coordinator (Shipyard) Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented MCT Electrical Coordinator to oversee the installation, tracking, and compliance of Multi-Cable Transit (MCT) systems, stuffing tubes, and RISE systems on marine vessels. In this role, you will serve as the primary supervisor and subject matter expert responsible for ensuring all cable penetrations meet strict quality, safety, and NAVSEA specifications. You will coordinate efforts across prime contractors, subcontractors, and Ship's Force to de-conflict work schedules and maintain structural and fire-stop integrity.
Key Responsibilities Program & Installation Oversight:
Serve as the central point of contact for all MCT, stuffing tube, and RISE system installations and modifications across the vessel.
De-confliction & Coordination:
Integrate and coordinate active cableway work across multiple entities, including prime contractors, subcontractors, and Ship's Force, to prevent schedule conflicts.
Compliance & Quality Assurance:
Ensure all MCT packing, building, and sealing strictly adhere to shipyard standards, engineering drawings, and NAVSEA specifications .
Safety & Work Approvals:
Review, process, and manage Work Authorization Forms (WAF) and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements for active areas.
Certification Verifications:
Verify that every trade employee working inside or modifying an MCT holds the required, up-to-date NAVSEA Cableway Certification .
Defect & Discrepancy Management:
Inspect cableways to identify and remediate defects, such as the improper mixing of power and control cables or compromised fire-stop barriers.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain precise, up-to-date tracking logs of all active and completed MCT work for quality audits and customer sign-offs.
Qualifications & Skills Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of marine electrical experience within a shipyard environment, specifically focusing on cableways and penetrations.
Certifications:
Active or highly recent NAVSEA Cableway Certification is strongly preferred/required.
Technical Knowledge:
Deep understanding of NAVSEA Standard Items (specifically 009-73 or equivalent cableway standards), stuffing tubes, and MCT manufacturers (e.g., Roxtec, Nelson).
Process Familiarity:
Proven experience managing and routing Work Authorization Forms (WAFs) within a ship repair or construction environment.
Leadership Skills:
Strong supervisory and communication skills to effectively manage cross-functional teams and enforce compliance.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to navigate shipyard environments, including climbing vertical ladders, working in confined spaces, and entering tight tank/void spaces. IND1
Pay:
$37.00 - $43.00 per hour
