CITY OF NIAGARA FALLS, NY PART TIME PARKING ENFORCEMENT ATTENDANT

Part time Parking Enforcement Attendants needed for the City of Niagara Falls, NY from May through Labor Day 2026. Must be available to work flexible hours between 11 AM and 9 PM, 7 days a week.

Hourly Pay:

$20.00 This part-time position involves issuing parking violations but can also alert police to other code violations presenting a positive, welcoming experience to guests and enhancing the safety and quality of life in the downtown area of the City of Niagara Falls. Parking Enforcement will also serve businesses, employees and patrons of the City's downtown area with valuable hospitality services for visitors and guests alike. Parking Enforcement may also help the City of Niagara Falls Police Department with crime prevention in non-emergency issues. The individuals assigned will wear a brightly colored uniform so they can be easily identified by the public. All daily duties and scheduling of staff for this post will be assigned by the Administration of the Police Department.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

• Patrols downtown area on foot or by other means of transportation (if provided); issuing parking violation notices where necessary and checking downtown meters to ensure operability
• Presents a positive and enthusiastic image of the City of Niagara Falls
• Effectively deals with public questions, comments and concerns
• Calls for police or medical assistance if needed
• Reports safety and cleanliness issues
• Reports maintenance and property damage issues
• Provides daily reports to the Police Administration
• Provides a watchful eye for individuals attending downtown events
• Provides a safety presence
• Helps visitors and other individuals to locate a business or service: Provides downtown event information
• Provides directional assistance to visitors and other individuals
• Escorts patrons to their destination if required

PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

Good knowledge of the City and downtown area; Ability to read and understand parking rules and regulations in specified areas; Ability to operate assigned technology. Ability to effectively communicate with members of the public and co-workers in a courteous, tactful and professional manner; Ability to work in an outside environment to include heat, wind, rain, etc. Ability to walk distances without assistance or delay, stand and ability to operate any mode of transportation (if provided). Ability to pass a Police Department Background Check and be in good physical condition.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

High School diploma or GED and possession of a valid NYS Drivers License at the time of appointment and maintained for duration of employment.

Special Requirement:

Candidates must satisfactorily complete prescribed program orientation and safety training.
