 Human Services Job Summary The Senior Center Van Driver provides safe, reliable, and courteous transportation for senior citizens and disabled residents to nutrition sites, shopping centers, and social activities. This position operates a handicapped-accessible 24-passenger van and requires a high level of patience, compassion, and physical assistance for passengers.

Key Responsibilities Passenger Transportation:

 Safely operates a 24-passenger wheelchair-accessible van, adhering to all traffic regulations.

Assistance & Safety:

 Assists passengers in and out of the van.

Vehicle Maintenance:

 Performs daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections (fluid levels, tires, lights, fuel levels) and ensures the van is kept clean.

Documentation:

 Maintains accurate daily logs of mileage, passenger count, destinations, and trip times.

Communication:

 Maintains communication with the Human Services Director or their designee regarding daily routes, passenger concerns, or potential delays.

Minimum Qualifications License:

 Valid State of Connecticut Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Endorsement:

 Must hold a current Public Passenger "F" Endorsement (Taxi, Livery, Service Bus).

Driving Record:

 Clean and insurable driving record (no major infractions within the last 5 years).

Experience:

 Experience working with older adults and operating passenger vans, preferred.

Physical Ability:

 Ability to assist passengers and handle light packages.

Bilingual:

English and Spanish, preferred.

Background Check:

 Must pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, and subject to random testing. Physical Requirements Must be able to sit for extended periods while driving. Must be able to assist passengers up and down steps.
