Job Description

Overview Join our dedicated team as a Childcare Van Driver, where your role is vital in ensuring the safe, reliable, and friendly transportation of children and individuals requiring specialized care. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to combine driving expertise with a passion for working with children and vulnerable populations. As a Childcare Van Driver, you will be responsible for transporting clients to and from educational, recreational, and healthcare appointments while maintaining a positive and supportive environment. Your energetic approach and commitment to safety will help foster trust and comfort for those in your care. Responsibilities Safely operate child-friendly vehicles, including school buses, paratransit vans, or specialized childcare transport vehicles, adhering to all traffic laws and safety protocols. Transport children and clients to designated destinations such as schools, daycare centers, medical appointments, or community programs with punctuality and professionalism. Communicate effectively with children, parents, caregivers, and team members to coordinate schedules and provide updates as needed. Conduct routine vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical safety and cleanliness; perform basic mechanical knowledge tasks such as checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and vehicle functionality. Manage behavior and promote positive interactions among children during transit through effective behavior management techniques. Maintain accurate records of trips, mileage logs, safety checks, and incident reports in compliance with organizational policies. Provide excellent customer service by addressing questions or concerns from parents or guardians promptly and courteously. Qualifications Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; experience in bus driving or commercial driving preferred. Has 45 dcf hours (required) Proven ability to operate various types of vehicles including school buses, paratransit vans, or driver roles. Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities. Experience working with children or in childcare settings; knowledge of behavior management strategies is highly desirable. Basic mechanical knowledge to perform vehicle safety checks and minor maintenance tasks. Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, energetic attitude that fosters trust and comfort. Ability to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently while maintaining safety standards at all times. Pay:
$15.00 - $18.75 per hour
