- Part-time Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and reliable On Call Overnight Wheelchair Transportation Driver to provide safe, efficient, and compassionate transportation services for clients requiring assistance during nighttime hours.
This role involves operating specialized vehicles to transport individuals with mobility challenges, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the journey. As an essential part of our team, you will deliver exceptional customer service while adhering to all safety and operational protocols. Responsibilities Safely operate wheelchair accessible vehicles, including specialized transport vans, during overnight hours. Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, providing courteous and respectful customer service at all times. Secure wheelchairs and mobility aids properly within the vehicle to ensure passenger safety during transit. Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections, including checking maintenance needs and ensuring cleanliness and safety standards are met. Communicate clearly with dispatchers, clients, as needed to coordinate pickups and drop-offs efficiently. Handle heavy lifting when assisting passengers with mobility devices or luggage, following proper safety procedures. Maintain accurate logs of trips, passenger details, vehicle maintenance, and incident reports in compliance with company policies. Experience Previous shuttle driving or delivery driver experience preferred; familiarity with bus driving or commercial driving is a plus. Experience operating specialty vehicles such as school buses or paratransit ( not required ) Strong communication skills to interact effectively with clients and team members in a professional manner. Knowledge of vehicle maintenance basics to identify issues early and ensure vehicle reliability. Ability to perform heavy lifting up to 250 pounds safely when assisting passengers in wheelchairs inside of vehicle . Valid driver's license appropriate for the vehicle type being operated. No DUI's within 7 years . Prior experience in customer service roles that require patience, empathy, and excellent interpersonal skills.
