Job Description

At Next Generation Child Care, we believe that a child's learning day begins the moment they step onto our van. We are looking for a dedicated Safety Ambassador who understands that they aren't just driving a route—they are providing a secure, welcoming bridge between home, school, and our center. As we strive for a Step Up to Quality 5 rating, we are seeking a driver who takes pride in excellence, punctuality, and the safety of our youngest scholars.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities Safe Passage:
Provide reliable transportation for children to and from school, the center, and approved field trips.
Safety Leadership:
Conduct and document Daily Pre-Trip Inspections (lights, tires, fluid levels, and safety equipment) to ensure the vehicle is in peak operational condition. The "Face" of the
Center:
Greet parents and school staff with a professional, positive attitude, serving as a key communicator for the center.
Supervision & Security:
Ensure no child is ever left unattended in the vehicle. Execute "end-of-route" sweeps every single time the van is parked.
Compliance Expert:
Maintain up-to-date mileage logs, passenger rosters, and maintenance records in accordance with Nebraska DHHS and center policies.
Safety Restraints:
Ensure every child is properly secured in a federally-approved, age-appropriate car seat or booster seat before the vehicle moves. Qualifications & Nebraska DHHS Requirements To meet the high standards of our center and the State of Nebraska, candidates must meet the following:
Licensing:
Must possess a valid Nebraska Driver's License with a clean driving record (no major violations such as DUI, reckless driving, or license suspension).
Specialized Training:
Must complete (or be willing to complete within 90 days) the Safe Kids Nebraska Child Care Transportation Training .
Health & Safety:
Must have current CPR and First Aid Certification .
Clearance:
Must pass a comprehensive Background Check (NCHRIC), including fingerprinting and a check of the Adult/Child Abuse and Neglect Registry.
Age:
Must be at least 19 years of age (Nebraska legal age of majority).
Physicality:
Ability to assist children in and out of car seats and lift up to 40 lbs if necessary. Why Join Next Generation?
