Full Job Description Position Description:
A daycare van driver is responsible for transporting children from home to the daycare, from daycare to planned outings or field trips and then back home. In addition to the maneuvering of the van, a daycare van driver will also help the children on and off the vehicle. Some duties also include accommodating children with disabilities by loading and un-loading wheelchairs, crutches, braces, and other medically necessary items.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Complete a Pre-Trip inspection (lights, turn signals, horn, first-aid kit, ect). Ensures the vehicle is clean and in proper working order. Assists in ensuring participant/staff ratio is maintained on the bus. Determines and follows safe and efficient driving routes. Ensures all car seats and children are securely strapped in according to state law. Maintains all transportation records required by the program. Operates the vehicle in such a way that road and safety regulations are always followed and reports any traffic violations to the Director immediately. Ensures that the communication device (e.g. two-way radio, cellular phone) is in proper working order before each trip. Ensures that the vehicle always has sufficient fuel. Arranges for and ensures completion of routine maintenance of vehicle (e.g., oil change); transporting the vehicle to and from maintenance and/or repair facilities. Ensures that vehicles are properly registered, insured, and equipped with necessary supplies such as a first aid kit, and parent contact information.
Qualifications:
High school graduate or equivalent Required to take a van safety course within 30 days of hire. Must have current CPR certification or obtain within thirty(30) days of employment 1 year experience in the Transportation field Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manual Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions Ability to lift at least 50lbs (unassisted) Documentation of current and valid driver's license issued by DMV available

8:00AM - 10:00AM and 3:30PM - 5:30
