Childcare Center Van Driver

CHINS Child Development Center Van Driver Job Responsibilities and Duties:

Operate CHINS vans in the morning and the afternoon. Give support to center field trips as driver or van aid. CHINS employees who are required to drive a CHINS vehicle must obey all traffic laws. Work together as a team to provide van supervision. CHINS employees must maintain that the van is kept neat clean and in good repair. CHINS van drivers must remain undistracted and always stay focused. CHINS van driver/ monitor must refrain from any cell phone use to include tablets or electronic devices of any kind, while in or driving van. Only in an emergency should a cell phone be used. In an emergency, you should slowly and safely pull over. Then the monitor can use the cell phone to contact the center's director. Must be able to attend and carry out driver safety training at the beginning of employment with CHINS and annually while employed with CHINS. Must physically get up and do a walk-through of the entire van to ensure every child has excited the van. This is to be done each time before leaving and or exiting the van. Due to safety measures and the extreme heat of New Mexico. This is required!! Make sure every child is properly and safely buckled in before the van moves at any time. You will need to make sure that everyone to include the adults, stay buckled the entire time. Must ensure that proper use of car seats are being followed. Absolutely no eating on the CHINS vans. Please make sure that children in your care stay at a safe and appropriate volume during the duration of the van run. Use CHINS van driver/van aid checklist daily. Monitor behavior of children while they are under your supervision. Document any issues, concerns and or behaviors, and discuss them with your director. Will be expected to transport Pre-K and school aged children safely and in a timely manner to Alamogordo public schools, one of our CHINS centers, or any fieldtrips planned by CHINS. Make sure all children arrive safely to their destinations of Full House, Learning Tree House, The Launch pad, Alamogordo public schools, and or any fieldtrip destination.
