Job Description
About Us We are a trusted childcare center dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children. To support our families and programs, we are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Van Driver to join our team. Job Summary The Childcare Van Driver will be responsible for safely transporting children to and from our center, schools, field trips, and other approved destinations. The ideal candidate is dependable, has experience working with children, and demonstrates a strong commitment to safety. Key Responsibilities Safely transport children to and from school, childcare programs, and scheduled outings. Follow assigned routes and schedules, making adjustments only with prior approval. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections. Ensure children are properly secured in seat belts or child restraints. Assist children when entering and exiting the van safely. Monitor children's behavior during transit and address minor conflicts appropriately. Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and supervisors. Keep the van clean, organized, and well-maintained. Maintain accurate mileage, fuel usage, and trip logs. Report any incidents, delays, or mechanical issues promptly. Qualifications Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Must be at least 21 years old (per insurance requirements). High school diploma or equivalent. CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Prior experience working with children preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to remain calm and act quickly in emergencies. Must pass a background check and drug screening. Working Conditions Ability to sit for extended periods while driving. Exposure to varying weather conditions during pick-up and drop-off.
