Job Description

Category Nursing - RN-PACU Job Type Travel Experienced PACU nurses are sought for an assignment providing post-anesthesia care. This contract position offers an opportunity to deliver direct patient care in a recovery setting, supporting patients as they transition from surgery to full consciousness and stability.
Schedule/Hours:
Typical shifts following surgical schedules; flexibility required based on caseload.
Key Qualifications:
Active and unrestricted RN license Minimum 1 year of recent PACU experience, with strong assessment and monitoring skills Proficiency in post-surgical patient care, including airway management and pain control Current BLS and ACLS certifications Ability to work effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and multidisciplinary staff Strong documentation skills using electronic medical records Adaptability in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment
Primary Responsibilities:
Monitor patients' vital signs and comfort levels in the immediate post-operative period Respond quickly to complications (e.g., changes in consciousness, respiratory distress) Administer medications and provide interventions as ordered Educate patients and families about post-surgery care, discharge instructions, and expectations Collaborate closely with surgical teams and other unit nurses Maintain accurate and timely medical records relating to all aspects of patient care Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols This contract role is well-suited for nurses who thrive in settings where their critical thinking and rapid response make a direct impact on patient safety and comfort.
