Schedule/Hours:
12-hour night shifts, 19:00-07:00 Three shifts per week
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of verifiable psychiatric nursing experience, hospital setting preferred Valid KS or Compact RN license Current BLS certification Experience with psychiatric evaluations, managing high-risk situations, and de-escalation techniques Proven ability to assess, manage, and coordinate care for violent or complex behavioral health patients
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver primary nursing care for two high-risk psychiatric patients in the ED, including medication administration, use of restraints, and participation in disposition planning Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, determine patient disposition, and coordinate placements or safety planning upon ED admission Serve as a crisis responder during Behavioral Response Team calls across the facility, supporting de-escalation alongside police and nurse managers Operate independently and adeptly, providing psychiatric assessments critical for ED physician decision-making
