1 Description American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with critical care experience for a high-volume ER and Level I Trauma Center at an acute care teaching hospital in Roanoke, VA. Details 703-bed acute care teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center (Adult & Pediatric) with Magnet-designated nursing excellence Adult-focused RRT unit serving adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients in high-volume ER, Neurotrauma, cardiovascular services, and medical/surgical ICU settings Patient ratio of 1:25 Equipment includes Servo I, Servo U, V-60 BiPAP, Optiflow heated high flow, iNOvent, and LTV1200 Epic EMR experience required Night shift, 3x12s (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM); 4x12 schedule available by request Weekend requirement of every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block Floating within skillset is required Must work one holiday per 13-week contract Requirements RRT credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required; CRT not accepted VA Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner required; other state licenses accepted with requirement to obtain a 90-day temporary authorization while VA permanent license is processed BLS and ACLS certifications required Critical care experience in a high-volume ER and Level I Trauma Center required, including Neurotrauma, cardiovascular services, and medical/surgical ICU Proficiency in aerosol and medication delivery systems including mask, trach, MDI, and Medihaler; experience administering Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, Pulmicort, Mucomyst, racemic epinephrine, inhaled Flolan, inhaled steroids, bicarbonate, and lidocaine Competency in ABG interpretation and ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, HFNC, flow-by, high-pressure alarm troubleshooting, and weaning from mechanical ventilation Airway management skills including extubation, oral/nasal airway placement, suctioning, sputum collection, and tracheostomy care Proficiency in oxygen therapy and nebulizer setups including handheld, T-piece, trach collar, and ultrasonic Copy of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration License required if applicable Additional Information First-time travelers are accepted; 1 year of travel experience is preferred Local candidates are not accepted; a radius rule applies to determine eligibility A robust Assess and Treat protocol is in place, with ventilator management and liberation policies Two professional references are required for consideration All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of profile submission Hospital is affiliated with the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and is certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center
