Truck Driver Class A

Summary Drive a tractor-trailer combination on public streets and/or highways to transport recyclable materials within a local radius. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Dispatcher. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Must be able to operate tractor-trailer with manual transmission to pick up and deliver freight. Provide good communication skills with management, customers, employees and general public. Hook and unhook trailer from tractor Secure loads on trailers using approved devices or methods. Assist in the loading and unloading of material. Must be able to read road signs, maps, and other written documents. Complete pre and post-trip vehicle inspections and notify maintenance department of any required service. Complete log forms daily and submit to dispatcher. Able to pass physical exam per Federal Motor Carriers safety regulations. Keep truck clean inside and outside. Wear all required and necessary personal protective equipment. Experience:

Must be at least 18 years of age Minimum of 1 year of Class A driving experience required• Minimum of 1 year of driving experience preferred within the last 5 years Must possess a current valid Class A commercial motor vehicle operator's license Satisfactory motor vehicle record

Language and Communication Skills:

Ability to understand and speak the English language at an acceptable level for productivity Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form

Work Schedule:

Ability to work a 40-hour week Ability to work occasional Saturdays and overtime, as assigned and needed Ability to work variable hours Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS

Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction) to identify, read, and understand directions and gauges on equipment and other documents required in the operation of a commercial vehicle. Acceptable hearing (with or without hearing aid) to hear sounds and warning signals which could lead to an emergency situation requiring some type of proactive or reactive response. Ability to feel vibrations or some unusual shaking indicating that a possible danger exists in the operation of a commercial vehicle. Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving your whole body, including climbing, lifting, balancing, twisting, walking, bending, stooping and lifting arms over your head. Use fingers or hands to grasp and move objects Heavy lifting and carrying of 50 pounds or more Able to bend, twist at waist and climb stairs on a regular basis. Able to use various hand and foot controls on a regular basis.
