Job Description

Position Announcement Position Title:
Truck Driving Associate Instructor, Full-Time The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Elizabethton is accepting applications for a full-time Truck Driving Associate Instructor position at the Boones Creek Extension Campus.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma required Valid commercial driver's license in Tennessee Minimum of five years' recent over-the-road driving experience with an exemplary record Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to organize and deliver theoretical and practical instruction to prepare students for CDL certification Teaching experience preferred
GENERAL DUTIES
The Truck Driving Associate Instructor is responsible for teaching all aspects of the program, including: Safety regulations, CDL regulations, and traffic laws Road atlas navigation and highway route planning Instruments and cab controls Engine and air brake systems Driving techniques for adverse weather conditions Hazardous materials transportation Clutch, gear, and transmission patterns Coupling and uncoupling trailers Obstacle course navigation and backing procedures Defensive driving techniques Over-the-road driving experiences.
Additional responsibilities include:
Assisting in development and purchasing for the truck driving program Maintaining an active advisory committee Regular communication with business and industry partners Training and conducting third-party testing Serving as a DOT examiner as required Administrative duties, including but not limited to curriculum development, student record-keeping, recruitment, graduate placement, and program budgeting Participation in professional development and student organizations
SALARY :
This is a full-time, exempt position as an Associate Instructor. Salary is commensurate with qualifications, education, and experience according to established TBR salary guidelines.
Salary range:
$50,984-$61,074.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Use of a computer Normal standing, sitting, and walking Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stoop, stand and work, with or without accommodation to demonstrate and perform work-based projects Operating a motor vehicle to travel within the college service area and beyond as needed.
