Job Description
Job Description We are seeking a skilled and dependable Truck Scale Operator to support civil construction projects in remote Alaska. This role requires hands-on experience operating truck scales, performing general labor tasks, and maintaining equipment in demanding environments. Candidates must be comfortable working long hours in remote locations, in extreme weather conditions, and team-oriented job sites. Responsibilities Operate Truck Scales. Track daily totals of aggregates weighed on scales. Pick up freight from carriers Deliver freight/supplies to shop and staging areas for delivery to remote jobsites Assist superintendents and Project managers Other duties as assigned Equipment Maintenance & Safety Perform daily equipment inspections. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized worksite. Follow all company safety policies, OSHA standards, DOT regulations,MSHA regulations,and site-specific requirements. Work safely in extreme weather and uneven terrain. Immediately report all Incidents/Accidents, no matter how small, to their Supervisor. Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit's success also may be assigned. This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications Minimum Requirements High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Minimum (1) year experience working for Civil construction company 6 months experience operating truck scales Forklift Certification required(or able to obtain upon employment). Valid driver's license with clean driving record Ability to work independently and as part of a crew in remote locations. Strong work ethic, reliability, and adaptability to changing site conditions. Civil construction, road construction, or utility installation experience Remote or camp-based work experience preferred. Able to pass background check and obtain AOA airport badge in Ralph Wein Memorial Airport Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel Working Conditions and Physical Requirements The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. Steel toed boots required on the job. Travel may require an employee or contractor to pass a TSA security checkpoint. If the employee or contractor does not have valid identification, they will not be able to travel until valid identification is obtained and verified.
