Job Description
POSITION
: Tutoring Coordinator (Math)REPORTS TO
Director of Federal Programs/Student Resource Center Job Summary The Tutoring Coordinator is responsible for helping students achieve academic success through tutoring. This will encompass providing direct tutoring assistance with coursework, practice guides, and computer programs, as well as developing workshops and group sessions and providing general counseling regarding the transition to college.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in field or master's degree in related field plus 18 graduate semester hours in math from a regionally accredited institution. Demonstrated tutoring or teaching experience required. At least one year of tutoring or college level instruction experience preferred. Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and have the interpersonal skills to develop effective working relationships with students and other employees. Must have knowledge of learning and instructional theory, and have a demonstrated ability to develop, plan, and conduct workshops and instructional sessions. Must have strong computer skills and proficiency in the use of technology for instruction. Must be able to work a flexible schedule and work independently. Must be able to maintain the confidentiality of student information. Must have an understanding of and commitment to the philosophy of a comprehensive community college.RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement instructional strategies, materials, and technologies to assist students through individual or group tutoring sessions. Develop, plan, and teach academic skill workshops and group learning sessions. Teach seminars regarding a specific content area. Maintain records related to student tutoring. Oversee work by other tutors and student peer-tutors. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned, required, or directed by the College. The College reserves the right to assign additional tasks and to alter or reassign job duties as necessary to meet business and operational needs. In order to perform these essential functions, the Tutoring Coordinator must be present at work. Therefore, attendance is an essential function.SALARY:
Appropriate placement on State Salary Schedule E1 ($50,680- 68,169) of the Alabama Community College System Salary Schedule.
