Position Summary Provides advising to in-bound and out-bound students who participate in study away, study abroad and international exchange programs, including semester, short-term, academic year, and faculty-led programs. Responsible for actively marketing and promoting study abroad/study away opportunities to students and collaborating with faculty and international partners on program development. This position will act as an Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) and work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and partners locally and globally in order to provide appropriate documents, services, and support for students and Scholars studying and/or conducting research at UTEP as a result of exchange programs and institutional partnerships. Statement of Duties and Responsibilities:
Advise inbound and outbound students on study abroad and exchange programs, including applications, course approvals, registration, scholarships, and pre departure/re entry requirements. Coordinate recruitment, selection, orientation, and support services for study abroad, exchange, and faculty led programs, ensuring a positive student experience. Administer and maintain study abroad records and processes using Terra Dotta and related university systems, including applications and reporting. Support immigration related processes for international students and exchange visitors, including SEVIS compliance and J 1 program assistance, in accordance with federal regulations. Plan and support outreach, promotional events, and information sessions to increase student participation in study abroad and global learning opportunities. Collaborate with faculty, academic departments, and campus partners to facilitate program development, academic credit transfer, and faculty led programs. Assist with program assessment, data collection, and reporting to support learning outcomes, program improvement, and enrollment initiatives. Serve as a point of contact for students, faculty, parents, and partners, providing ongoing communication and support before, during, and after study abroad experiences. Support visiting partner institutions, exchange students, and program evaluations as needed. Assist with day to day operations of the Study Abroad or International Programs Office, including billing support, scholarships, and campus representation. Participate in professional development and remain current on best practices, policies, and regulatory changes affecting international education. Perform other related duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of the Office of International Programs. Serve as backup Passport Agent as needed Occasional travel required. Bachelor's Degree and Experience:
Two (2) years of experience working in a student-centered environment or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated experience with computer applications/software and database systems. Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree; Experience living /studying abroad. Knowledge and experience with International Programs/International Education. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy office with minimal supervision.
