Operations Technician Trainee

The Operations technician is responsible for conducting multiple daily activities related to plant operations which could include distillation, liquid transfers, fixed bed reactors, boilers, hot oil heaters and other related processes and equipment.

Essential Functions Reports To:

Operations Manager Trouble shooting plant operations when actual operations does not meet the expected outcome. Monitor process conditions, equipment and control systems. Perform minor maintenance repairs on-shift including commissioning and decommissioning on all types of process and mechanical equipment. Utilize Microsoft Office software, Honeywell's Experion process control system and other computer software such as LIMS. Provide performance feedback to team members. Assure standards of safety, environmental, team and individual performance are met in a high performance team-based organization. Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company's core values, competencies, and skills. Education Qualifications Required High School or Equivalent Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) Experience Qualifications Required General Plant experience Preferred Manufacturing experience is a plus Preferred Prior Military (with Honorable Discharge) is a plus Skills and Abilities Ability to compile, read, and compute, and interpret data Basic computer skills and a comfort level in working with computers are necessary Self-motivated and ability to work well with others Candidate must be able to pass the pre-employment test Able to obtain TWIC Card and pass background check. New hires will also be evaluated under a 30/60/90 day probationary period Process Technology degree Licenses and Certifications Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license Required Working Conditions/Physical Demands Walking. Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force consistently to move objects in order to thrust forward, downward or outward. Pulling. Using upper extremities to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force consistently in order to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion. Lifting. Raising objects up to 50 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds consistently from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. Grasping. Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm. Subject to environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside. Subject to extreme heat. Temperatures above 100 for periods of more than one hour. Subject to vibration. Exposure to movements of the extremities or whole body. Operate/drive utility vehicle Subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals. Must be able to wear appropriate PPE for tasks as required.
