Job Description

Duties:
Job Summary:
The Ultrasound Tech provides excellent customer service by performing ultrasound examinations under the direction of a physician for identification of abnormalities leading to patient diagnosis.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Maintains American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and modality-specific competency in all clinical and technical functions.
  • Ensure proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam.
  • Perform exams per department protocol and reviews images for quality, clarity, and accuracy.
  • Completes studies within acceptable time limits without compromising patient care or quality.
  • Assists and instructs students and other Radiology Techs in exam protocols, procedures, positioning, and equipment.
  • Provides appropriate patient education, ensures patient comfort, and addresses concerns.
  • Practices appropriate infection control and sterile techniques.
  • Understands and operates equipment and related information systems to ensure quality images.
  • Keeps accurate records of patient information, procedures performed, and any adverse reactions.
  • Follows protocols for medical necessity, coding, charging, consents, QC programs, and reporting equipment failures.

Skills:
Required Skills & Experience:
  • One (1) or more years of experience.
  • Ability to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment and supplies.
  • Ability to verbally communicate and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
  • Manual dexterity to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.
  • Ability to use computers and perform typing for documentation and accessing information.
  • Ability to lift, bend, and carry supplies and equipment, including heavy items.
  • Ability to walk and assist with transporting or ambulating patients.
  • Ability to push and pull equipment such as gurneys and portable devices.
  • Ability to navigate crowded and busy environments.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
