Job Title:
Underground Operations Manager - Fiber Optic Projects Job Description This role oversees all underground operations, scheduling, quality assurance, and timeline management for fiber optic network projects. You will coordinate the full lifecycle of underground fiber builds, ensuring work progresses safely, efficiently, and in line with project schedules and regulatory requirements. Your leadership will be critical in delivering high-quality network infrastructure on time and to specification. Responsibilities Develop and maintain detailed project schedules for underground fiber optic network builds. Monitor day-to-day progress of underground operations and ensure adherence to established timelines. Adjust and re-baseline project schedules as needed to address delays, scope changes, or unforeseen issues. Oversee underground construction activities to ensure they align with project plans and quality standards. Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to keep underground operations aligned with overall project goals. Secure necessary permits and approvals from local authorities and relevant agencies for underground work. Ensure all underground operations comply with applicable regulations and safety standards, including the National Electric Code (NEC). Implement and enforce quality assurance processes for underground fiber installations. Identify risks or issues affecting underground operations and timelines, and implement corrective actions. Track and report on key milestones, progress, and schedule variances for underground fiber projects. Support continuous improvement by reviewing project outcomes and recommending enhancements to processes and procedures related to underground operations. Essential Skills Proven experience managing underground operations for fiber optic network projects. Strong experience in project scheduling and timeline management for construction or network deployment projects. Hands-on experience with quality assurance processes in underground utility or telecommunications projects. Demonstrated ability to develop, maintain, and adjust project schedules to meet changing project needs. Working knowledge of permitting processes and requirements for underground construction. Solid understanding of regulatory and safety standards relevant to underground operations, including the National Electric Code (NEC). Strong organizational and coordination skills to oversee multiple activities and stakeholders. Ability to monitor progress, identify delays or issues, and implement schedule recovery plans. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience coordinating with local authorities and regulatory bodies for permitting and inspections. fiber optic network deployment or telecommunications infrastructure projects. Familiarity with best practices for underground utility construction and safety. Ability to interpret technical documentation, project plans, and regulatory requirements. The position involves managing multiple projects and timelines simultaneously, using scheduling tools and documentation to track progress and maintain quality across all underground operations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Payne, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $53.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
