Underwriter/ Mortgage Department Assistant 4.1 4.1 out of 5 stars Newton, KS 67114 Full-time The Citizens State Bank 7 reviews Full-time Underwriter/ Mortgage Department Assistant Job Description Reports to VP of Mortgage Lending/Auditor Required Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance preferred. 1+ years in mortgage experience (loan officer, processing, underwriting) or experience and knowledge of banking and banking regulations, bank policies and procedures as well as real estate specific compliance (HMDA, TRID, SAFE Act, etc.) preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required. Summary/Objective Underwrite the processing of real estate loans. Track real estate loans throughout the lending process. Determine loan soundness and provide conditions to meet loan closing standards. Responsible for assisting the auditor with bank required audits. Underwrite real estate loans in a timely manner. Ensure all regulations and requirements are met. Send interest rates email out daily to RCLC, and RMLO Balance monthly MPF, P&I, and Delinquency report Do pre-closing and post-closing audits in a timely manner Do MPF Quality Control audits from MPF Check closed loans report and prepare Mortgage releases Assist with annual escrow analysis process Make entries for mortgage loans that are booked using QuickBooks Prepare mortgage payoffs Fed Express all necessary documents (Payoffs, Notes & Assignments to MPF, etc.) Record Mortgages at the courthouse Scan documents as needed - mortgages, final titles, releases, etc. Underwriting Assist with new loan processing In-House Evaluations Provide any conditions required to meet loan standards. Conduct compliance loan monitoring on a consistent and scheduled basis. Follow auditing procedures to conduct audits as directed by the Internal Auditor. Document audit findings in the format requested by management. Make recommendations to department heads as to how they can improve in areas where audit revealed deficiencies. Continue to learn about bank regulations and controls in order to develop auditing skills. Compliance with Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC and
USA PATRIOT
Act including Customer Identification Program, customer due diligence-beneficial ownership, identifying high risk accounts, reporting suspicious activities to Supervisor or BSA Department. Must be able to pay attention to details while performing multiple tasks simultaneously for periods of 2 hours or longer. Must be able to demonstrate strong computer skills including MS applications, loan software, etc. Must show up to work regularly without excessive absences. Must have fluency in English for effective job performance. Must be able to speak clearly, distinctly and be understood by co-workers and customers. Bi-lingual is a plus but not necessary. Handwriting must be legible and in standard bank-specified format for clear reading by scanners and software. Numbers must be recorded on forms in correct and accurate order and entered into computer systems in correct and accurate order. Writing skills must include the ability to spell correctly and use proper grammar and punctuation. This includes both e-mail and formal letters. Must be able to learn procedures within a bank-specified timeline and follow them accurately and consistently according to bank standards. Must be able to learn new duties and procedures and implement them into work habits within bank-specified timelines. Must be able to see in order to view a computer screen. Must be able to hear and understand verbal requests. Must be able to read accurately and retain information that was read and apply it. Must be able to lift and carry 20 pounds. Must be able to stand or sit for long periods (4 hours or more). While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand; walk; use hands and fingers, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Other duties as assigned.
