POSITION SUMMARY
Pinewood School seeks a Physics Teacher (Leave Coverage) to teach AP Physics C (mechanics) and a 9th grade algebra-based physics course. This is a full-time, temporary position responsible for continuing established course plans, delivering engaging instruction, and maintaining accurate assessment and communication while the primary teacher is on leave.The ideal candidate brings strong content knowledge, clear classroom routines, and a student-centered, inclusive approach. This role is anticipated to start on November 2 and continue through January 18.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teach 1 section of AP Physics C, and 4 sections of 9th grade physics, (5 classes in total).
- Develop effective instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students
- Design and implement curriculum for a student-centered classroom
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and respected
- Use technology effectively to communicate and to enhance teaching and learning experiences
- Communicate effectively with parents on a regular basis regarding students' needs and/or progress
- Attend regular monthly faculty, grade level, and academic meetings
- Participate in school events

- Ability to spend long hours in stationary positions while using computers and office equipment
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally
- Visual and auditory acuity to monitor student activities and ensure safety
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Physics, Education, or a related field is required. Master's degree and/or a 7-12 teaching credential are desired.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in classroom teaching.
- Experience teaching AP Physics and 9th grade algebra
- based Physics.
- Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity.
- Ability to work with multiple constituencies with professionalism, empathy, humility, calm, and strategic direction
- parents, teachers, students, outside specialists, and the administrative leadership team.
