Job Description
We are a small, growing co-op in Glen Dale, Maryland, seeking a passionate Upper Elementary Montessori educator to join our team. Our program currently serves approximately 12 students and is led by a certified Montessori teacher supporting our lower elementary group. As we expand, we are looking for a dedicated educator to guide our upper elementary learners in a peaceful, intentional, and relationship-centered environment. This is a unique opportunity for a teacher who values small group learning, meaningful connections, and an environment where every child is truly known and nurtured.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Upper Elementary Montessori Educator will plan and deliver Montessori-aligned instruction for a group of 5-7 upper elementary students (approximately ages 9-12). The educator will partner closely with our existing teaching team, co-op families, and community subject matter experts to provide a rich, well-rounded learning experience three days per week.SCHEDULE & STRUCTURE
Tuesday -Thursday:
Core teaching days, 8:30 AM - 3:15PM Mondays:
Reserved for lesson planning and scheduling flexibility (not required on-site)Fridays:
Subject matter experts, field trips, and enrichment experiences (co-op wide) Bi-weekly team meetings with co-teaching staff One monthly meeting with co-op familiesKEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and deliver Montessori-based lessons aligned to upper elementary developmental needs Create a prepared, organized classroom environment that supports child-led exploration Observe, document, and respond to each student's individual learning progress Build warm, trust-based relationships with students and their families Collaborate with the lower elementary teacher and co-op leadership Participate in bi-weekly team meetings and monthly family meetings Support the integration of enrichment activities, guest educators, and field experiences on Fridays Communicate proactively and professionally with families regarding student progressQUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Montessori training or certification (upper elementary preferred; other levels considered) Experience working with elementary-aged children in a classroom or educational setting Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work collaboratively in a small, mission-driven teamPreferred:
Experience in a homeschool, co-op, or non-traditional learning environment Comfort working with mixed-age groups and individualized pacing Familiarity with family-centered educational philosophies Warm, nurturing presence with a genuine love for child-centered learningPay:
