Description of Role Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy seeks a passionate and innovative Chemistry and/or Physics teacher to serve students in the Upper School. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge and ability to teach Upper School Chemistry and/or Physics, classroom experience and passion to bring these subject matter to life. Additionally, this role focuses on teaching Chemistry and/or Physics through integrated, hands-on, project-based learning that fosters curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. The teacher will work closely with supervisors, colleagues, students, and families to deliver an excellent academic experience aligned with the school's mission and to create a collaborative, respectful learning environment. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable in implementing curriculum, collaborating with colleagues on the implementation of the scientific method as it pertains to the Next Generation Science Standards, has experience being a classroom teacher, is an organized and thoughtful planner with strong communication skills, attention to detail, and genuine enthusiasm for supporting students throughout their academic journey. Key Responsibilities Design and deliver engaging Chemistry and/or Physics lessons aligned with curriculum standards. Ability to teach Intro to Chemistry for 10th grade students and Intro to Physics for 11th/12th grade students. Facilitate hands-on learning experiences, experiments, and design challenges Encourage creativity, collaboration, and inquiry-based learning Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs and learning styles Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback Maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive classroom environment Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and support staff Preferred Qualities in a Candidate A thoughtful and reflective educator, or who is a life-long learner and wants to continually improve their practice A team player, willing to support others and be supported by others in an environment that cherishes community, teamwork, and cross-curricular innovation An excellent communicator and willing to work in partnership with parents in the best interest of the children Values creativity and autonomy over adhering to a rigid structure, bureaucracy, and preparing for tests Thrives without being micromanaged, while still being open to ideas from peers and administrators Is open to working in a Jewish environment in which Jewish (and human) values, traditions, and holidays are woven seamlessly into the day Values teaching the whole child Qualifications Education degree, Masters preferred, and teaching license preferred Experience with Upper school students Experience teaching Chemistry and/or Physics in the high school level What We Offer HBHA may be the place for you!
