Dependent on education and experience Purpose of position: Responsible for filing, recording, and collections of the City's utility bills, and assists as a relief licensing and purchasing clerk. Other job duties as required.

Essential Job Functions:

Keeps accurate records of utility accounts. Responsible for the billing of utility accounts. Handles the collection system of past due accounts. Gives a monthly report of collections to the city clerk. Prepares and provides monthly report for license and collection clerks of addresses that are vacant or delinquent for do not pickup list (trash). Follows up on delinquent accounts and uncollectible accounts and maintains status of all accounts due. Retrieves and formats OKC water consumption report for commercial and residential sewer accounts. Inputs annual water consumption for residential accounts. Creates new accounts for move-ins and close out old accounts for move-outs. Inputs checks and credits and enters automatic clearing house information. Downloads daily e-pays. Issues deposit refunds. Tracks dumpster rentals and inputs fees. Collections - creates late fees reports, handles delinquent accounts and sends unpaid closed accounts to collections. Prepares letters and report for attorney to prepare for OKC water cut-offs. Prepares Bethany-Warr Acres report for the Bethany-Warr Acres trust and takes and prepares the minutes for the city clerk on odd numbered years. Issues access badges. Deals with insurance through OMAG. Sends the newsletter to the printers for billing inserts.

Education and Training Experience:

High school graduate with bookkeeping and/or accounting experience, knowledge of office procedures, and customer service. May require continuing education classes for certification as required by the state of Oklahoma.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Must be knowledgeable in the areas of bookkeeping, office machines and procedures, and must be able to operate a 10-key calculator by touch, type on a computer keyboard, transcribe summary minutes, update and run utility bills on a computer, and sort and file material. Must be proficient in the use of a computer, to include knowledge of Word, Excel, email, and Adobe. Must be able to deal with irate and difficult customers in a friendly and professional manner. Must possess good public relations and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work independently as well as with other employees. Must be a self-starter and work under time constraints. Contact with the public is daily, and must be able to communicate effectively with people from all socio-and economic groups. Bi-lingual speakers (English and Spanish) are a plus.

Licenses and Registrations:

Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable to drive, and must be able to be bondable to handle City finances. Warr Acres is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

$16.27 - $20.59 per hour
