Job Description
- Utility Locator Technician (Entry‑Level)
- Pay•:•$21.
Location:
- Fridley, MN (field‑based; travel required)
Schedule:
- Monday - Friday | Start time 7:00 AM until work is completed
- Travel
- :•Approximately 50% to local and regional job sites •About the Role•Join a respected Utility Engineering and Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) firm and build a long‑term career in the infrastructure industry.
- What You'll Do
- + Locate, identify, and document underground utilities at active job sites + Assist crews with locating and occasionally exposing sewer and other underground utility systems + Operate SUE locating and designating equipment (pipe and cable locators, vacuum excavation tools) + Use hand and power tools including jackhammers, pogo tampers, concrete saws, air lances, and vacuum hoses + Maintain accurate daily reports and perform basic math calculations + Assist with traffic control setup and follow all safety procedures + Support survey crews with field data collection + Perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance •What We're Looking For•Required Qualifications + Basic math and measurement skills + Experience using hand and power tools + Minimum of 3 months of construction or field labor experience + At least 6 months of outdoor work experience in varying weather conditions + Ability to lift up to 75 lbs + High School Diploma or GED + Valid driver's license Preferred Experience (Not Required) + Utility locating or surveying experience + 6+ months of survey or related field experience •Why You'll Want to Work Here•+ Competitive pay with clear advancement opportunities + Paid, hands‑on training and professional development + Overtime opportunities + Medical, dental, and vision insurance + Paid time off and paid holidays + 401(k) with company match + Boot and clothing allowance + Company‑provided cell phone or allowance + Food allowance for overnight travel + Life and disability insurance + Tuition reimbursement + Wellness programs, bonuses, and employee discounts •Work Environment•+ Field‑based, outdoor role year‑round + Work with vacuum trucks, excavation, and locating equipment + Small, collaborative team (~15 employees) + Office located in Fridley, MN; most work performed in the field •Job Type & Location•This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fridley, MN.
- Pay and Benefits
- The pay range for this position is $21.50 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your jobclassification and length of employment.
