Springdale Preparatory School is seeking a dynamic and experienced Girls Varsity Basketball Head Coach to lead and elevate our program to the next level. Building on a year of historic success—where our Varsity Boys Basketball team captured the Maryland Private School State Championship and our Junior Varsity Boys team won the Metro Private League Championship—Springdale is committed to expanding excellence across all programs. With the Metro Private League introducing a Girls Division in the upcoming academic year, we are focused on developing a competitive, high-performing girls program that reflects the same standards of discipline, skill development, and championship culture established within our athletics department. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, a passion for player development, and a vision for building a competitive program that prepares student-athletes for success both on and off the court.

Key responsibilities include:
Build and lead a competitive Girls Varsity Basketball program aligned with Springdale's athletic standards and mission Develop a clear vision and long-term plan for program growth and success Plan and conduct effective practices focused on skill development, conditioning, and game strategy Foster individual player growth while promoting teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship Prepare student-athletes for competition at the high school and collegiate levels Oversee all aspects of game preparation, in-game coaching, and post-game evaluation Scout opponents and develop game strategies Promote a positive, inclusive, and high-expectation team culture Serve as a role model, emphasizing character, accountability, and leadership Support student-athletes' academic success and personal development Assist with recruiting prospective student-athletes Coordinate team schedules, travel, and equipment in collaboration with the Athletic Department Communicate effectively with students, families, and school administration Represent the school professionally at games, events, and within the league Ensure adherence to school policies, league regulations, and safety standards Maintain appropriate certifications (CPR, First Aid, etc.) Springdale Preparatory School is a co-educational multicultural collegiate boarding and day school located on a sprawling 51-acre campus in New Windsor, Maryland for students in grades 6th through 12th. The ideal candidate will have the following education and experience: Previous high school, collegiate, or club coaching experience (head coaching experience preferred) Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategy, and player development Proven ability to build and sustain a competitive program Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills Commitment to student-athlete development both academically and personally Ability to foster a positive, inclusive, and disciplined team culture Experience with recruitment and player development pathways Availability for practices, games, and team events (including evenings and weekends) Expansive knowledge of the sport, including game/practice/training strategies and positional coaching - in season and out Ability to attain CPR/First Aid Certification upon hire (offered by school) Ability to oversee activities related to the management of athletic functions Experience in managing and resolving conflict Understanding of the critical development issues facing adolescents Detail-oriented, with the capacity to effectively and efficiently manage numerous small and large tasks Enjoy working in a cooperative, team-oriented environment with adults and students Culturally competent, responsive, and sensitive to diverse populations Hold a valid driver's license and ability to meet school driving requirements Must be available to provide support for off-hours, weekends, and/or holidays as required This is a flexible position that may be full- or part-time based on the applicant's education and experience and school needs.
