Kingfisher, Oklahoma Job Overview:
The Vegetation Management Technician position is a critical member of the Shuterra team, responsible for maintaining vegetation along road right-of-ways. This role includes chemical herbicide applications the operation of other vegetation management equipment. Technicians must hold or obtain appropriate chemical applicator certifications (existing certified applicators preferred).
Key Responsibilities:
Perform herbicide applications accurately and safely along designated roadside right-of-ways. Conduct regular maintenance on vehicles, spraying equipment, and mechanical tools. Follow precise application plans and report application details via digital platforms. Work collaboratively with the Shuterra team, maintaining effective communication. Ensure equipment and vehicles are well-maintained, performing routine checks and scheduled maintenance independently. Flexibility in scheduling, as operations may require unconventional hours including nights and weekends due to weather conditions and operational demands. Travel within Oklahoma for project work.
Expectations and Qualifications:
Possess or be willing to acquire state-issued applicator certifications for herbicide applications; current certifications strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience in vegetation management or related fields (herbicide applications, and other vegetation management equipment operation). Strong ability to multitask, including safely operating vehicles at slow speeds while managing equipment and digital mapping applications. Good driving skills and experience in pulling trailers safely and efficiently. Ability to independently conduct basic mechanical maintenance on equipment. Strong work ethic and willingness to perform tasks beyond core responsibilities as needed, reflecting Shuterra's start-up culture. Effective communication skills, team-oriented, and able to foster positive team culture. A valid driver's license with a good driving record is required due to significant travel responsibilities.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
This position involves primarily outdoor work in varying weather conditions. Must be comfortable working around chemical herbicides and mechanical equipment. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting, operating equipment, and prolonged periods of driving.
Compensation:
Competitive hourly pay, reflecting skills and experience level. Overtime compensation as applicable. Per diem provided during travel assignments.
