Vehicle Safety Investigator - Field Actions Stellantis United States, Michigan, Auburn Hills May 15, 2026
Purpose of Position:
Responsible for evaluating issues escalated through the Control Tower review process to determine potential vehicle safety or regulatory non compliance risk. This role supports Control Tower Steering Committee reviews, leads cross functional technical discussions, and ensures clear, well documented disposition decisions.Job Description:
The Investigator leads and facilitates discussions with key stakeholders across Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality (SQ), Technical Safety Office (TSO), and Quality to develop a shared understanding of technical risks and regulatory exposure.Primary responsibilities include:
Review the GIMs (Global Issue Management) list in advance of scheduled Control Tower meeting to flag technical concerns that may be related to safety or noncompliance Attend Control Tower meeting to gather more understanding of GIMs presented, including clarity on affected systems, populations, and potential compliance or safety relevance Assess GIMs issues for potential safety or regulatory non compliance implications. Perform responsive record and data analysis to evaluate trends, technical evidence, and field history. Lead focused discussions with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, TSO, and Quality to align on risk and technical understanding. Consolidate cross functional input into a clear analytical position to support disposition decisions. Determine appropriate outcomes, including discontinuing tracking or assigning the issue for further investigation. Assign issues requiring follow up to the appropriate Investigator with clear ownership and next steps. Document GIMs of interest decisions and ensure proper documentationBasic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university, OR other engineering degrees or related technical degrees with combined experience A minimum of 5 years of experience in cross functional Vehicle Engineering roles Detailed understanding of vehicle integration, systems, and validation process Knowledge of multiple automotive systems including body, chassis, powertrain and electrical Cross functional knowledge of system interactions and vehicle integration Passion for excellence, drive for deliver in the presence of obstacles and litigation Ability to develop strategic options working with both business and technical assumptions Ability to understand and break down complex issues Ability to clearly communicate both written and verbal to management, engineering, internal and external stakeholders and regulators Ability to lead a team in the execution of deliverables on a condensed timelinePurpose of Position:
