Hiring Agency General Government Cabinet | Department of Veterans Affairs Location 5817 Fort Campbell Boulevard Hopkinsville, KY 42240 USA Description Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West is located in Christian Co. It is a state owned cemetery maintaining national cemetery standards to provide dignity and respect to veterans and their families. The Veterans Cemetery Caretaker I participates in all burial operations for veterans and eligible family members, as well as special events such as ceremonies for Memorial Day, Veterans Day, Wreaths Across America, etc. Additionally, this position is responsible for maintaining the grounds and gravesites within the veterans cemetery. KDVA is looking for a career-minded, self- motivated and energetic Veterans Cemetery Caretaker I to work in our Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West, and who possesses the skills, knowledge and desire to perform the following: Maintain the grounds through mowing, weeding, edging, snow removal, etc. Assist with internment process. Perform maintenance on equipment. Maintain the dignity and respect of veterans and their families. The ideal candidate will work independently, yet be part of a larger team to meet our commitment to serve Kentucky's Veterans. Minimum RequirementsEDUCATION
High school graduate.EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS
Must have one year of experience in cemetery caretaking, grounds maintenance, golf course greens keeping, landscaping, farming, military service or other related experience. SubstituteEDUCATION
forEXPERIENCE
College courses or technical training in horticulture or a related field will substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis. SubstituteEXPERIENCE

(AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials. Working Conditions Work is performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions. Operates power equipment and handles pesticides. Probationary Period This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided inKRS 18A.111.
