00 per hour At South Sioux Animal Hospital, we are seeking a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our growing team. This role focuses on clinical support within a fast-paced, high-standard veterinary environment. We are a 3-doctor practice equipped with digital x-ray, ultrasound, full in-house laboratory equipment, and computerized medical records (AVImark) . Our team has proudly served the Siouxland community for over 50 years. This is a full-time position, typically 34-40 hours per week, with rotating holiday and occasional after-hours on-call responsibility. What You'll Do Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with patient care Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with lab work and treatments Support surgical and medical procedures as needed Prepare animals, instruments, and treatment areas for procedures Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments under direction Safely restrain animals during exams and treatments Obtain and document patient histories and basic clinical information Monitor patients recovering from treatment Maintain clean, sterile exam rooms and treatment areas Communicate professionally with clients when needed Work occasional weekends, holidays, and after-hours on-call shifts Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Prior veterinary or animal handling experience preferred Comfortable working in a clinical, fast-paced environment Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance and perform repetitive physical tasks Strong communication and teamwork skills Willingness to learn and grow in a clinical setting Ability to stay calm and supportive in emotional and difficult client situations Benefits 401(k) with employer match after one year Health insurance fully paid by employer after 60 days PTO accrual begins immediately Continuing education support Discounted pet care #hc241282
