Job Description
As a full-service animal healthcare center, Front Range Veterinary Clinic, part of the Suveto network of hospitals, seeks a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our team. We are equipped to diagnose and treat our client's dogs and cats through all stages of life. Description
Our Veterinary Assistants provide support to the veterinarian and veterinary technician as directed in various areas of the hospital; provide professional and efficient client service. This is a dynamic position that requires flexibility, compassion, and a strong work ethic. The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for animals, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. This is a full-time position; $18.00- $22.00 per hour
Essential Job Duties:
Provide, monitor, and document all husbandry requirements for patients such as cleanliness, nutrition, necessary and appropriate bedding, physical therapy, exercise, comfort and support. Perform assistant level assessments such as pain scoring or vital signs, treatments ordered by veterinarian or directed by technician such as oral meds, document observations legibly in patient medical records. Assist with patient handling, diagnostic test/imaging set up, nursing care and admit/discharge of patients as directed by veterinarian or veterinary technician, complete forms for laboratory, file lab reports and clean-up laboratory area. Assist with emergency department procedures as directed by veterinarian or veterinary technician such as support for patient triage, transport of patient and CPR assistance. Transport patients within the hospital and into/out of the hospital. Assist with cleaning surgical & other medical equipment, packing/sterilizing instruments, properly cleaning surgical suites. Perform basic in-house laboratory tests such as snap tests, pcv/ts, urine sg, running analyzers, set up of other tests as deemed appropriate by veterinarian or technician, complete forms for laboratory, file lab reports and clean-up laboratory area. Communicate with doctors and technicians regarding patient status, trends, or concerns. Provide after care for patients according to owner wishes. Communicate any patient or client concerns to appropriate personnel. Follow all OSHA and hospital policies, keep all areas clean, organized, and Document legibly and keep accurate patient medical records in accordance with hospital policy. Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications:
Previous experience working in a veterinary hospital or similar setting is preferred. Knowledge of basic animal care and medical terminology. Ability to handle and restrain animals safely and effectively. Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds or heavier. Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities. 6 months of veterinary experience preferred for new applicants in addition to credentials but not required Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to learn and take direction from veterinarians and senior staff members. Compassionate nature and genuine love for animals. High School Diploma (or equivalent).Benefits:
