The West Bloomfield Veterinary Hospital (WBVH) is seeking a veterinary assistant to join our team. We are a privately-owned, small animal hospital passionate about providing the highest quality medical care through a compassionate and client-centered approach. We foster an environment in which our technicians and assistants can utilize their skills, provide input into case management, further their knowledge, and communicate clearly and effectively with clients to optimize patient outcomes.

Responsibilities and Duties:

The veterinary assistants primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Performing client intake and providing client education Holding animals for medical exams and procedures Administering medications; vaccines, and fluids as well as other treatments Running urinalysis and other routine in-house laboratory tests Filling and labeling prescription medications Accurately and timely update patient medical records Monitoring and restocking supplies; and performing administrative tasks Maintaining a clean and sanitary clinic environment Cleaning hospital and kennels

Qualifications and Skills:

Candidates should have previous training and experience in the veterinary field (1+ year experience preferred), but we will train the right candidate. They must also maintain a positive work ethic and professional appearance at all times, have good communication skills, work independently with minimal supervision but also be a team player, be detail-oriented, and have basic computer skills. These and other characteristics will be necessary for keeping pace with a busy and fulfilling work environment.
