Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Veterinary Technician to join our veterinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for animal care and a comprehensive understanding of veterinary practices. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting veterinarians by providing exceptional patient care, assisting with medical procedures, and ensuring the well-being of our diverse animal patients. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your expertise in veterinary medicine within a dynamic and compassionate environment. Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures, ensuring adherence to proper technique, compassionate care and proper client education. Perform animal restraint and handling with confidence across various species, including dogs, cats. Conduct laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostics to aid in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.(In house Idexx) Maintain detailed medical records, documenting patient histories, treatments, and laboratory results accurately. Manage animal husbandry tasks such as feeding schedules, cleaning kennels, and ensuring proper animal housing conditions. Assist with dental procedures by understanding dental terminology, dental radiography and supporting oral health assessments, Operate radiography equipment to capture X-ray images while maintaining safety standards for staff and animals. Monitor animals' vital signs during critical care situations and provide supportive nursing care as needed. Serving the Tri-State area for over 55 years, we have a wonderful client base, skilled team and Awesome DVM's. Skills Proven experience working with animals in a veterinary or animal care setting, including kennel experience and veterinary technician roles. Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and critical care procedures. Proficiency in laboratory techniques, X-ray imaging, aseptic techniques, and animal catheterization procedures. Excellent animal handling skills with the ability to restrain safely and effectively. Familiarity with dental terminology as it relates to pet dentistry procedures. Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members and educating pet owners about animal care needs. Pay:
$23.00 - $27.00 per hour
