Job Description

Come Join the City of Bellevue! New hires typically receive between minimum and midpoint, however, we may go slightly higher based on experience, internal equity and market. Job Summary If selected for further consideration, in-Person Interviews will be the first week of May 2026. The Well K.E.P.T. Program is a summer youth employment opportunity offered through the Natural Resource Division of the Parks & Community Services Department. The program is designed to provide Bellevue teens with education, job skills, and career development training in the field of park resource management. Work focuses on parkland renovation and maintenance; projects may include agricultural maintenance, forest enhancement, wetland restoration, and trail construction. The Well K.E.P.T. Program combines on-the-job work experience, environmental education, and career development training to instill strong self-esteem, good work habits, and sound environmental ethics. Bellevue Well K.E.P.T. is funded by the King Conservation District's Member Jurisdiction Grant program.

Must be a student enrolled in high school in fall 2026. Must be between 14 and 18 years of age on 07/06/2026. Hiring preference will be given to applicants entering their sophomore, junior, or senior years. Must be able to work collaboratively as a team member to accomplish a common goal. Interest in learning about ecology and park resource management activities preferred. The position is intended to be a learning experience, so no prior work experience is required. Past Well K.E.P.T. trainees will be considered only if space is available. As with all government employees, candidates selected for hire must pass a criminal background check prior to hire date. Hiring preference will be given to residents of Bellevue Washington. Supplemental Information Physical Demands The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee may be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 40 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet. Work may periodically require the employee to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. Employee must be willing and able to work outside in all weather conditions. This is a Seasonal, non-exempt, non-union position. Definition of a
Seasonal Employee:
Must be pre-approved by Human Resources to ensure compliance with the legislation. Regularly scheduled to work up to 40 hours per week for which the customary annual employment is six months or less. "Customary" means that the nature of the position typically lasts for six months or fewer and that the period of employment begins at approximately the same time each year.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
