Warehouse Shipping and Receiving Clerk - Steel Distribution

Position Overview:

We are seeking a committed Warehouse Shipping & Receiving Clerk to join our team at our Baytown, TX branch. This role works in the operations office and is the face of the company to incoming delivery drivers. Your work in our receiving system is critical to our company's success. We have day and night shifts available! The Warehouse Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for making sure all operational and procedural changes are made to all shipping orders. They perform a variety of computer operations and have to possess knowledge of computer applications. Essential Functions:

To ensure all communication is clear and precise, thus making sure to provide good customer service. To be aware of rail in loading and keep an accurate record of what is unloaded to avoid demurrage charges. Also update all change of status during the day or night to ensure shipping requirements are met. To ensure service level in the shipping office to ease guidance of drivers to correct areas and remind them of our safety rules. Driver safety sheets must be signed and logged in and out to track visiting drivers. Must be able to maintain and accurate record keeping of receiving and bill of ladings for tracking purposes. Must have good computer application skills and be able to navigate through the system. Must have warehouse and Material knowledge for understanding the system and also be able to check loads. Must have good communication skills to help with all visitors and drivers or employees. Must be able to accurately evaluate the saw cutting and schedule the saw for expediting material in the most efficient manner. Must understand that cycle count is part of the duty to keep inventory in check. Must ensure that Material test reports are sent out with all material unless requested not to send. Is expected to learn all jobs in the office in a certain time to include MTR's, Receiving, Exceptions, Saw scheduling, cycle counting, printing loads, Routing loads, and checking loads. Must be available to work overtime as needed. Other duties as assigned.
