Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic team as a Water and Sewer Operations Technician, where you will play a vital role in maintaining and operating essential water and wastewater treatment systems. This energetic position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge equipment, ensure community health and safety, and contribute to sustainable water management. You will be responsible for overseeing the daily operation of water treatment facilities, sewer systems, and associated heavy equipment, ensuring compliance with environmental standards while fostering a safe and efficient work environment. Duties Operate and monitor water treatment plants, wastewater treatment facilities, and sewer systems. Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on mechanical equipment, pumps, valves, and plumbing fixtures involved in water and sewer operations. Collect and analyze data related to water quality, flow rates, chemical levels, and system performance to identify issues early and implement corrective actions. Perform heavy equipment operation including tanker trucks, excavators, loaders, and other construction machinery to support system upgrades or repairs. Troubleshoot operational problems by analyzing system data, performing basic math calculations, and applying mechanical knowledge to resolve issues efficiently. Assist in construction projects related to water infrastructure upgrades or new sewer line installations while adhering to safety protocols. Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, equipment repairs, data logs, incident reports, and compliance documentation. Experience Proven experience operating water treatment or wastewater treatment systems with a strong understanding of water quality standards. Hands-on mechanical knowledge related to plumbing systems, pumps, valves, and heavy equipment operation. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while handling equipment or materials necessary for maintenance or construction tasks. Strong analysis skills with the capacity to interpret data collection results for system optimization. Basic math skills for calculations involving chemical dosages, flow measurements, or system diagnostics. Prior experience in construction or equipment repair is highly desirable for supporting infrastructure projects.
